Will AI Replace Jobs in the UAE? 2026 Career Guide

Will AI replace jobs in the UAE?

Short answer: AI is changing tasks and skills across the UAE workforce, but current hiring data does not show that AI will replace all—or most—jobs. PwC reports that the share of UAE job postings requiring AI skills rose from 1% in 2021 to 3.2% in 2025. That measures demand for AI skills in job advertisements; it is not a measure of jobs eliminated. PwC’s 2026 UAE AI Jobs Barometer

For job seekers, a more useful question is: Which parts of the work I want to do are changing, and how can I prove I can do them well?

What the 2026 data says about AI and work in the UAE

AI-related skills are appearing in more UAE job advertisements. In PwC’s analysis, postings requiring AI skills grew to 3.2% of all UAE postings in 2025, up from 1% in 2021. Technology, media and telecommunications had the highest share, at nearly 10%, while the report also found growth across other sectors.

That does not mean every employer now expects applicants to be AI specialists. It does suggest that AI is becoming relevant to work outside dedicated technology teams, such as research, analysis, customer support, marketing and operations.

The skills mix is changing too. PwC found that roles most exposed to AI required an average of 77 new skills, compared with 22 in the least exposed occupations. The report does not say every worker must learn 77 skills. The useful takeaway is that job requirements can change as tasks and tools change, so learning one relevant skill at a time may be more practical than trying to master everything.

The UAE is also investing in workplace training. In September 2026, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced an Agentic AI training programme for government employees, including a target to equip 80,000 federal employees with relevant knowledge and skills. This is a training initiative, not a count of new vacancies. FAHR programme announcement

A September report by recruitment firm Cooper Fitch also brought renewed attention to how AI affects job roles. Khaleej Times reported that the survey found employers were more likely to describe task consolidation and changes to entry-level work than predict broad job cuts. Survey findings describe respondents’ views; they are not a forecast of what will happen to every UAE job. Khaleej Times’ report | Cooper Fitch reports

Which UAE jobs may feel AI changes first?

AI often affects tasks within a job before it removes an entire occupation. For example, a tool may help prepare a first draft or summarise information, while a person still needs to check accuracy, understand the customer or situation, and decide what to do next.

Tasks that involve routine digital work may be easier to assist with. Examples include:

The exact effect depends on the employer, the tools it uses, the information available and the consequences of getting a decision wrong. AI support in a low-risk writing task is different from using an automated system to make a hiring, financial or legal decision.

For applicants, this means it is safer to describe what you can do with a tool than to assume a job title is either “safe” or “at risk.”

How to build useful AI skills for a UAE job

You do not need to become a machine-learning engineer to demonstrate basic AI literacy. Start with a task that appears in the roles you are applying for.

1. Look for repeated tasks in job descriptions

Review several current advertisements for your target role. Note the duties that repeat: reporting, customer communication, research, scheduling, data organisation or content production. Then choose one task where an AI tool might assist.

2. Practise on public or fictional information

Do not paste confidential employer, client, applicant or personal data into an AI tool unless you have permission and understand the tool’s data rules. Use public information or create a fictional example for practice.

3. Check the output

Compare the result against reliable source material. Look for invented facts, missing context, incorrect calculations, private information and tone problems. A useful skill is knowing when not to trust an AI answer.

4. Keep a small example of your work

Create a short, anonymised example that shows the task, your process and the final result. For instance, you might show how you organised a fictional set of customer questions into categories, then checked the summary for errors.

5. Explain the human part

In an interview, be ready to describe what you checked, changed or decided yourself. Employers need to understand your judgment, not only which tool you opened.

How to put AI experience on your CV

Avoid listing tools without explaining what you used them for. “ChatGPT” by itself does not tell an employer what you can do.

Use this structure:

Used [tool or method] to help with [specific task], checked the output by [your review step], and achieved [result you can support].

For example, if it is true:

Used an AI writing assistant to draft routine customer-service replies, checked each response against the approved support guide, and organised the final templates for team review.

Only include results you can explain and support. Don’t claim that AI “increased productivity by 40%” or “automated the department” unless you measured that result and can show how.

A simple four-week AI skills plan

The goal is not to collect AI tool names. It is to show that you can use a tool responsibly, check its work and contribute your own judgment.

Frequently asked questions

Will AI take my job in the UAE?

No source can reliably predict what will happen to every job. Current reports show growing demand for AI skills and changes to tasks, but they do not establish that AI will replace all or most UAE workers. Check how the duties in your own role are changing.

Do I need coding skills to use AI at work?

Not for every role. Some jobs require programming or technical AI knowledge; many others may use AI tools for writing, research, customer support or organising information. Follow the requirements in the specific job description.

Should I add AI tools to my CV?

Add them when you have used them for a relevant task and can explain how you checked the result. Give the tool, task and your contribution. Don’t list tools you have never used just to match a keyword.

What is the most useful AI skill for job seekers?

There is no single skill for every occupation. Start with a task in your target role, practise using AI safely, and build the ability to verify its output. Communication, role knowledge and sound judgment remain important because a tool cannot take responsibility for your work.
